Southern Door Student Earns Agricultural Grant

Callie Miller, an 11th-grade student at Southern Door High School and the daughter of Jesse and Lace Miller, has earned a $512 Start-up Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant, sponsored by the Andis Foundation. Miller’s plan for the grant is to purchase a beef heifer calf to start her own beef herd, which will allow her to continue growing her skills as a beef entrepreneur.

SAE grants help FFA members with their SAE projects, a requirement that all members must complete. Through SAEs, FFA students create and operate an agriculture-related business, work at an agriculture-related business or conduct an agricultural research experience, and then submit a comprehensive report detailing their experiences.
