The Southern Door High School Technical Education Department received a donation of a Timesaver wide belt sander for its woods area this spring. In addition to a grant received, local businesses contributing toward the purchase were: A.J. Deuchert Construction; Ahnapee Construction; Bay Lakes Builders & Development; Birmingham Builders; Brett Buhr Memorial Fund; Cabinet Creations & Design; Door County Home Builders, Inc.; PES Enterprises; Tielens Construction; Van’s Lumber & Custom Builders; and Wilco Cabinet Makers.
“I wish we could have had this machine years ago. It’s absolutely an essential tool to any woodworking shop,” said Tyler Malcore, senior at Southern Door High School.
“The generosity of our community and local businesses has made it possible for our students to be exposed to the some of the same equipment that is used in industry and construction,” said Glen VanderVelden, technology education instructor at Southern Door High School.
