Spring Art Crawl Welcomes Back Guests

Rich in the tradition of arts and crafts, Ellison Bay is home to artist studios and galleries that feature pottery, original paintings, photography, wearable art and handmade leather items. There is also a cider house, coffee house and folk school. Every spring, they put together an art crawl to showcase the talents of Ellison Bay during the Spring Art Crawl, May 21-22, 10 am – 5 pm.

Participating businesses include Clay Bay Pottery, Turtle Ridge Gallery & Boutique, Kick Ash Coffee, Gills Rock Pottery, The Clearing, Ellison Bay Pottery, Rob Williams Studio & Gallery and Island Orchard Cider.

Jeanne and David Aurelius of Clay Bay create hand-thrown pottery and tiles, which reflects their devotion and delight in nature. Turtle Ridge features mixed media paintings, encaustics and etchings by Mary Ellen Sisulak. The boutique offers unique handmade leather bags and art to wear, made on-site.

Kick Ash Coffee is a great place to kick back, enjoy the view and coffee (roasted in-house), granola and other treats from the gluten free kitchen. Thor and Judy Thoreson of Gills Rock Pottery offer original designs on hand-thrown pots which are both functional and decorative.

The Clearing is a folk school that offers classes in the arts and fine crafts, humanities and natural sciences in a beautiful wooded setting on the water. Ellison Bay Pottery’s John Dietrich and Diane McNeil create beautiful, functional stoneware pottery and unique Raku pottery inspired by the beauty and history of Door County.
