Spring Non-partisan Election Nomination Papers Due Jan. 3, 2017

The Door County League of Women Voters reminds citizens that it’s time to take action if considering running in the spring non-partisan election. Non-partisan elected positions are not affiliated with any political party and include local school boards and municipal boards seats.

If interested or to learn more about running, contact your local school or municipal clerk for up-to-date information on the procedures to become a candidate. The “Election Guide for Candidates” can be provided free of charge.

To officially become a candidate, nomination papers need to be taken out to collect signatures to launch the candidacy. Make sure the people signing election papers live within the jurisdiction or municipal bounds of the office you seek. Nomination papers for nonpartisan office can be circulated now. All signatures are due to your school liaison or municipal/county clerk by 5 pm, Jan. 3, 2017.

The Door County League of Women Voters will conduct a candidate forum for contested seats upon request from a candidate or citizen. However, the League will proceed only if the position is contested and at least two candidates agree to participate. Requests must be made on or before Jan. 17; call Barbara Graul at 920.743.6842 or [email protected]. For more information visit leagueofwomenvotersdoorcounty.org.
