Spring Programming at The Ridges

The Ridges offers a series of spring programming including hikes, lectures and workshops. Naturalist guided hikes at the Sanctuary resume on a limited basis on May 6 before expanding to the full summer season schedule when they will be held Monday through Sunday at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm beginning June 1. Guided hikes will also be conducted at Logan Creek at 2 pm on Saturdays throughout May and on June 7 and 21 at 2 pm.

Birders can look forward to Discovery Bird Hikes on May 9, 16 and 30 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 6:30 am. Those who like to sleep in a bit will enjoy Not-So-Early Bird Hikes on May 15 and June 20 at 9 am.

The Ridges Natural Connections series continues the multi-generational programming that has always been a mainstay of the schedule. These programs are perfect for adults and families and include a Woodcock Watch on April 24, a Frog Walk on May 8, Bellies on the Boardwalk on May 16, and Photo Ops Hikes on May 14 and June 15.

Lake Lessons, the popular Thursday evening speaker series, returns on June 4 with a presentation on Mosses and Lichens of Northeast Wisconsin by award-winning nature writer and photographer Rob Zimmer. Other presentations that month include Protecting Wisconsin’s Native Orchids at The Ridges by biologist, Melissa Curran on June 11, Reptiles, Amphibians & Water Quality by Scott Craven on June 18 and The Importance of and Threat to Door County’s Bat Population by Bob Bultman on June 25.

If you’re already planning your children’s summer activities, be sure to check out the Ridges Backpack Adventure Camps. Full-week camps begin in July with sessions appropriate for ages 4 -6 and 7 – 10.
