Spring Violin Concert Benefit’s Diabetes Research

Everyone is invited to help find a cure for diabetes and listen to lively, beautiful music. A Spring Violin Concert to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will take place on Sunday, April 5 at 2 pm at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan St., in Sturgeon Bay.

Eight great local musicians will dazzle attendees with their musical talents. Beth Chafey-Hon, Lynn Gudmundsen, and Marina Gittins will perform on violin. Hans Christian of Studio 330, on cello, and David Beck, Angel Hon, and Dave Robertson on piano. Then, adding Bruce Newbern on percussion and drums, this innovative concert will mix lively, fun pieces that incorporate the sounds of rock and roll with beautiful traditional, classical selections.

In addition to the array of music performed, the event will be a multimedia concert with interesting and inspiring slide show presentations to accompany each song. Of the many photos displayed, there will be nature scenes from the Ridges Sanctuary and other Door County favorites, action sports shots of local athletes, horses from the 4-H Horse and Pony club, lots of spring flowers, classic cars, and much more.

The concert begins at 2 pm with no admission and all free will donations will go to the JDRF, a non-profit organization aggressively dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes. The organization’s research efforts have already made huge progress in improving the lives of both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetics.
