St. John Bosco Receives Match for Donations

For the first time in the history of the St. John Bosco Catholic School Annual School Fund Drive, the school has received a generous match from two local families, who will match up to $25,000 of any donations before Nov. 15. “We are so thankful for these two gracious families and their generous match. We hope that it encourages others to donate and help recognize the full potential of this match,” said Principal Vickie Dassler. “The community’s generous support of our Annual School Fund Drive allows our students to excel. In fact, we are proud to say that at the end of the 2017-2018 academic year, the students had 91 percent proficiency in reading; 87 percent proficiency in math; 97.5 percent proficiency in language arts and 89 percent proficiency in science. We could not achieve these outcomes without the community’s support.” Each new academic year brings new needs for the school. The top priorities for this year’s fund drive include competitive wages to recruit and retain teachers; tuition assistance for families in need; continued upgrades to the STEM program; and general operations. Among its many programs, the school is proud to offer daily Spanish courses for students in fifth through eighth grade; use of laptops and iPads for all students; as well as athletics, arts, band, musicals, math team and student council. Donations can also be mailed directly to St. John Bosco Catholic School, 730 W. Maple St., Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. St. John Bosco Catholic School is a consolidation of the three historic Catholic schools in Door County.
