Six area human-services organizations were among the beneficiaries this month of support from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sister Bay.
The Door of Life Food Pantry, which partners with St. Luke’s to provide food for local people who struggle to afford it, received $1,000 in Piggly Wiggly gift cards to support its work.
St. Luke’s also gave $1,000 to the Scandia Village team during the June 11 Door County Relay for Life. Worldwide, Relay for Life provides funds for breakthrough cancer research and essential services for those dealing with cancer.
Other area organizations that received donations of $1,000 earlier this year were Habitat for Humanity, the Children’s Center, Door County Housing Partnership and Secret Santa.
St. Luke’s parishioners are committed to helping those in need, so funding for these grants comes from the parish budget and is supported by members through their annual giving.
