St. Luke’s Donates to YMCA’s Summer Foods Program

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sister Bay presented a check for $250 to Heidi Erickson for the YMCA’s Summer Foods program. Each year St. Luke’s sets aside about five percent of its annual budget for gifts to benefit Door County and the world. This is in addition to monies and goods raised throughout the year for specific projects.

Recognizing there are children and youth who benefit from both exercise and healthy eating, the YMCA Summer Foods program was selected for one of the gifts. According to the YMCA, the Summer Foods Program serves healthy meals during the summer months to anyone 18 years and younger in several locations throughout the community. The Summer Foods Program is an extension of the school lunch program, allowing kids to receive nutritional meals year-round and ensuring that when they return to school in fall, they will be ready to learn. For more information visit doorcountyymca.org.
