The Door County Community Foundation recently awarded St. Peter’s Lutheran Church a Sustainability Grant from the Health and Human Needs Fund. This grant provides St. Peter’s with the financial assistance to offer an English Language Learners (ELL) class to meet the needs of local immigrants interested in gaining basic proficiency using the English language.

“St. Peter’s has a long history of providing programming to meet the unique needs of the Southern Door community. From communicating with schools regarding a child’s educational needs to having the ability to provide information during emergency situations, a basic working knowledge of the English language is a fundamental skill and a vital need for our immigrant families,” said Polly Alberts, board vice chair of the Door County Community Foundation.
