Stage Door Theatre Company Offers Adult and Young Adult Acting Classes

Beginning April 6, StageKids and Stage Door Theatre will offer a series of five acting classes for young adults and adults. Classes meet on five consecutive Saturdays, ending May 4.

The high school acting class, for 13 – 18 years-old students, focuses on scene study and will be taught by Ryan Patrick Shaw, education coordinator for the Third Avenue Playhouse.

Over the course students will perform scenes from various contemporary American plays while working on acting technique. Students will also work on developing fully realized characters through voice, movement and mind.

Classes will be held 12 – 2 pm.

The adult acting class, for adults 18-years-old and older, focuses on film acting and will taught by professional film and television actor Spencer Milligan.

Students begin with cold readings and proceed to working on scenes from various films. Students will then memorize lines and shoot the finished scenes on camera. All students will receive an edited copy of their work on DVD.

Classes will be held 9 am – 12 pm.

Each series costs $75.
