Stage Door Theatre Offers Special “Shirley Valentine” Performances

The third season production of the Stage Door Theatre Company is the one-woman comedy, Shirley Valentine, directed by Arthur Hopper. This play features Amy Ensign as Shirley, a wisecracking, completely unpredictable English housewife who proves it’s never too late to recapture your dreams.

Shirley Valentine was written by Willy Russell and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The Tony Award for Best New Play, and was made into a feature film with Pauline Collins (nominated for an Academy Award).

Ensign is well known to Door County audiences from performances with Door Shakespeare and Isadoora Theatre Company. Ensign will also appear in the upcoming Stage Door Theatre production of Almost, Maine.

Shirley Valentine will be performed nightly (except Saturdays) at 7:30 pm through Sept. 16. There will be a matinee performance on Sept. 9 at 2 pm and a special performance on Sept. 8 at 7:30 pm. There will not be a performance on Labor Day (Sept. 3).
