Play It Forward Concert to Benefit Go Bo! Foundation

On Dec. 29, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present its fourth annual Play It Forward concert, bringing together many of Door County’s favorite musicians to benefit a worthy cause. Through these musicians’ donated time, as well as the freewill donations collected at the concert, Play It Forward celebrates the warmth and light of the holiday season.

This year’s lineup includes performances by Pete Thelen, Larry “Thor” Thoreson, Elliot Goettelman, Small Forest, Nick Hoover and Jess Holland (Deathfolk), Lucy Hagen, Katie Dahl, Dirty Deuce, Ben Larsen, Lloyd Michalsen, Barb Sajna, and Fairland Bluegrass Band. This diverse and talented list of performers will evoke the best of the holidays with traditional favorites, original tunes and poetry, and festive songs of the season.

A tradition that began in 2013, the Play It Forward concert series reflects the best of Door County life, including the peninsula’s tight-knit community and vibrant music scene. The Play it Forward concert will benefit the Go Bo! Foundation, a foundation created in honor of Bo Johnson to fund research and treatment for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Thelen, one of the event’s coordinators, says, “I look forward to this concert every year for the camaraderie with the musicians. I wish our paths crossed more often. Most importantly, I look forward to remembering Bo Johnson and what he meant to this community.”

The concert begins at 7 pm. There is no charge to attend, but freewill donations to benefit the GO BO Foundation are encouraged. The DCA box office is located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open 12-5 pm Monday through Friday. For more information, call 920.868.2728 or visit dcauditorium.org.
