State Aid Estimates for School Districts Released

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released estimated general aid for the 2018-19 school year. Of the 421 school districts in Wisconsin, Southern Door and Gibraltar are among the top ten largest reductions of state aid for the upcoming school year. Southern Door School District will receive an estimated 16.36 percent reduction in state aid to $1,135,800. Gibraltar will receive an estimated 15.05 percent reduction in state aid to $2,997. The amount of state aid for districts is calculated in part based on property values, enrollment and shared costs. Door County’s schools typically receive little in state aid due to relatively high property values. DPI will certify state aid allocations on Oct. 15.
