State-bound Solo and Ensemble Students Perform at TAP

Selected Wisconsin School Music Association State Bound Solo and Ensemble music students from the Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door high school instrumental and choral programs will perform at Third Avenue Playhouse on May 11 at 2 pm. Students featured in the recital will be selected from the WSMA State Bound musicians in the choral and instrumental departments from all of the Door County Mainland Schools. Musical directors include: Charlie Eckhardt, band, and Lauren Gilmore, choir, from Gibraltar; Tanya Hasenjager, band, and Cheryl Pfister, choir, from Sevastopol; Heidi Hintz, band, and Justin Ranek, choir, from Sturgeon Bay; and Kristine Heyer, band, and Nick Brylla, choir, from Southern Door.

Students must earn a “starred first” rating in Class A (which consists of the most difficult music) at a WSMA District Music Festival to qualify for WSMA State Music Festivals – held at UW campuses throughout the state. The participants can choose from a variety of instrumental and vocal solo and ensemble categories for their performances in district festivals throughout the state.

Tickets to the TAP performance are $10 general admission and $5 child (11-years-old and younger). A portion of the ticket sales will benefit these students. Third Avenue Playhouse is located at 239 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
