State Senate Candidate Forum Now Online

If you were not one of the 70 people who went to hear André Jacque and Andrea Gage-Michaels in person Oct. 10, you can now watch the recording of their candidate forum on the League of Women Voters of Door County website at lwvdoorcounty.org.

Candidate Gage-Michaels (D) is challenging incumbent Jacque (R) on the Nov. 8 ballot to become northeastern Wisconsin’s state senator for District 1, which covers all of Door and Kewaunee counties, as well as portions of Brown, Manitowoc, Outagamie and Calumet counties.

During the League-run forum held at Southern Door Schools, the candidates answered questions about priorities, election laws, partisanship, reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights, mental health, schools, day care, gun control, and local environmental and broadband issues. Each candidate had two minutes to respond to each question.

Candidate forums are one part of the League’s mission and nonpartisan effort to inform voters about candidates and elections in a fair and unbiased manner and to promote the idea that “Democracy is not a spectator sport.”
