Statue Dedication, Groundbreaking at Zoobilee

Kewaunee County’s Bruemmer Park Zoo has a new attraction in place and a new exhibit on the way.

Life-size statues of a lion, rhinoceros and zebra have been installed, and in the spring, an elephant statue will arrive in the green space of the zoo’s lower portion. Steve Bruemmer has made generous contributions to this project.

The Bruemmers also gave $100,000 as part of a matching donation for an expansive pheasant exhibit that will house more than a dozen different pheasant species. Matching contributions have come from Kewaunee County and the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County, bringing the exhibit’s overall budget to $300,000.

Zoobilee ( – set for Sept. 25, 10 am – 4 pm, at Bruemmer Park Zoo, E4280 Cty F in Kewaunee – will celebrate with a dedication for the animal statues and a groundbreaking ceremony for the pheasant exhibit. Zoobilee will also include a car show, children’s activities, wagon rides, food and drinks. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. All proceeds will directly benefit the zoo.
