Worth noting:  Also an actress, Manning has appeared on The Bernie Mac Show, Boston Public and Flavor of Love.

Hometown:  “Ponca City, Oklahoma. A small town but the biggest in the area, so we were the center of nowhere.” Manning moved to Los Angeles Sept. 11, 2001.

Home is:  “Nowadays, I’m pretty much between Nor Cal and Los Angeles, and always on tour with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-stars. So I guess I live most of the time on the Mothership.”

Sounds like:  Fusion of jazz, funk, rock and reggae. Manning has worked with Clinton, The Red Hot Chili Peppers Snoop Dogg, Macy Gray and many other artists.

Intro to music:  “It all began when I was four years old, swinging on the swing set and singing. I remember feeling so good, and I ran inside and told my mom, ‘I am going to be a singer.’ By the time I was 10 I began taking voice lessons and was pretty much full force on my path to be a musician.”

Manning Studied Musical Theater at University of Tulsa, then Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. She met George Clinton shortly after graduating and joined the P-Funk All-stars.

Influences:  “Violent Femmes, George Clinton, Carole King, Grateful Dead, Mama’s and Papa’s, Phish, Roberta Flack, Janis Joplin, Eddie Brickell, and whatever rock and roll they played at the Roller Rink where I spent most of my time.”

How did you get connected to Steel Bridge? “I met pat mAcdonald through Eric Mcfadden and fell in love. Who couldn’t? he’s so sweet. I’ll pretty much follow any advice of pat’s, so when he said come, I came.”

What brings you back? “SBSF is such a special time. I feel so grateful to be able to gather and write with such amazing musicians, and Door County is the best. I feel so appreciated and really believe that the citizens of this area love music and listen to what the artists have to share.”

Currently:  On tour with George Clinton in the US, then on to Argentina, Chili, and Brazil, and then flying back just in time for SBSF shows.
