Stenzel Begins Road Back to State Cross-Country Meet

The road back to the Division 3 state cross-country meet for Sevastopol’s Olivia Stenzel will begin Saturday at the Manitowoc Lutheran Sectional meet.

Stenzel placed 20th at the state meet last season as a sophomore with a time of 20:10. She finished 21st in 2017 with a time of 20:27.59.

“This year I am a junior, and I realize I don’t have a lot of time left in high school,” Stenzel said. “I especially have a lot of tough competition this year, and I am preparing myself for a hard race. Because of last year, I am familiar with the course, and I know some of my biggest competitors.”

Stenzel finished first in the Packerland Conference meet with a time of 20:10, which was 14 seconds ahead of Peshtigo’s Sydney Lund. Southern Door’s Lydia LeCloux enters the postseason coming off a third-place finish in the Packerland meet, and Sturgeon Bay’s Miranda Olson heads to the Division 2 Two Rivers Sectional meet after finishing fifth.

Southern Door’s Sam Dean, a senior, enters the sectional meet with the top local performance in the Packerland meet. Dean finished fifth with a time of 17:39.
