Storm Headed for Door County

A winter storm is brewing and expected to hit early Thursday morning, around 3 am.

Between eight and 13 inches are expected to accumulate in Door County. Gusts of wind up to 40 mph could cause drifting snow and blizzard conditions, according to a National Weather Service report.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from 3 am Thursday until 3 am Friday. Governor Scott Walker has declared a state of emergency because of the oncoming storm.

People are encouraged to avoid traveling during and soon after the storm.
