Strategies for a Climate-Changed World

Professor Bart De Stasio

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County is hosting a presentation on the effects of climate change by Bart De Stasio, a Lawrence University professor of biology, on June 24, 7 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.

De Stasio will explain how the warming climate will bring more intense rainfall, more and larger algae blooms, and an expanded “dead zone” in Green Bay. He’ll also discuss how resilience and adaptability strategies can make a difference for our future.

De Stasio is the Dennis and Charlot Nelson Singleton Professor of Biological Sciences at Lawrence University who has conducted research in the Baltic Sea and Russia’s Lake Baikal, as well as Green Bay, and is widely published. He focuses on how human-related changes affect lakes, particularly through climate change and the introduction of exotic species.
