Straw-Bale Gardening Demo at The Garden Door

Do you have soil that’s too thin or rocky to support plants, or limited space to devote to a garden? Learn how straw-bale gardening could solve these problems June 5, 5:30 pm, during a Door County Master Gardeners Association (DCMGA) demonstration at The Garden Door at the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station, 4312 Hwy 42 in Sturgeon Bay.

Master Gardeners Dora Leonardson and Sue Kunz will demonstrate how to plant a straw bale, and straw-bale conditioning instructions will be available. Once planted, the straw bales will become part of DCMGA’s educational display vegetable garden at The Garden Door. Vegetables harvested from the garden are donated to the Aging & Disability Resource Center in Sturgeon Bay.

In case of inclement weather, a rain date is planned for June 6, 5:30 pm. Find out more at dcmga.org.
