String Academy Presents “Pictures at an Exhibition”

On January 15 the Door County String Academy will perform “Pictures at an Exhibition,” inspired by the original composition by Modest Mussorgsky, for their Winter Concert.

In conjunction with the performance, the academy and the Door County Library are sponsoring an exhibit and contest for Door County students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Students are encouraged to submit an original two-dimensional piece of art that was inspired by a piece of music. Each student must submit their art with name, grade and the name of the piece of music that inspired the piece. The art will be judged by three area artists, and prizes will be awarded in three age categories (grades K – 2, 3 – 5 and 6 – 8.)

All art pieces must be submitted by January 5. Pieces may be dropped off at the Sturgeon Bay Branch of Door County Library. Winners will be announced at the concert at Hope Church on January 15 at 4 pm.
