Strivers Bring Home State Champion

The Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastic Team returned home from the YMCA State Tournament in Marinette, Wis., with a Level 7 Floor Exercise State Champion. Abby Thiede of Sturgeon Bay scored a 9.5 out of a possible 10.0 to capture the Floor Exercise title. The Level 7 team scored 101.37.

Level 3 gymnast Alexa Nelson returned home with 2nd in beam, 2nd on bars, 3rd on floor exercise, and a 4th in the all around category. Katie Peot placed 8th on floor exercise.

Prep Optional Bronze gymnast Sophia Pollman placed 6th on floor exercise. The Bronze team captured a 5th place Team Trophy.

Prep Optional Silver gymnast Demi Ploor placed 2nd on floor exercise. Ploor placed 6th on vault. Elizabeth Helm captured a 7th on floor exercise and 7th on vault.

Over 700 gymnasts from 21 Wisconsin YMCAs competed in the State Tournament, March 16 – 18.
