Strivers Gymnast Sophia Pollman Brings Home National Championship

Sophia Pollman became a national champion by scoring 9.35 on the vault, giving her the Gold medal at the YMCA Gymnastics National Championships.

Sixteen girls from the Strivers Gymnastic Team competed at the YMCA Gymnastics National Championships in Milwaukee and all 16 girls placed in the top 20.

Coach Pollman stated “All of the Striver girls peaked at the right time! It’s a great day to be a YMCA gymnast!”

Sophia Pollman, competing in the X-cel Bronze Level, earned a Gold medal on the vault with a score of 9.35. Pollman also captured 4th place on the balance beam and in the All Around.

Teammate Abby Thiede, competing in Level 7, earned a silver medal on the balance beam and 4th in the uneven bars and in the All Around competition.

A strong performance earned Abby Thiede a Silver medal on the balance beam event at the YMCA Gymnastics National Championships.

In addition, Demi Ploor (X-cel Level) placed 4th on vault and 7th on floor; Alexa Nelson (Level 3) placed 5th on floor; Kayla Counard (X-cel Silver Level) placed 7th on uneven bars; Ellie Helm (X-cel Silver) placed 8th on vault; and Reetika Jandu (Level 3) placed 9th on bars.
