Strong Man Show Headlines Sister Bay Marina Fest

The 18th annual Marina Fest at the Sister Bay Marina takes place Saturday, Sept. 3 with a full slate of Marina Fest favorites, plus a couple surprising new highlights.

A fantastic show of strength will be performed by the Strong Man Show as seen on ESPN. They will push, pull, lift, and entertain in a 5:30 – 7:30 pm show in the marina parking lot. Be there for pictures and autographs.

Continuous music has been booked this year with three diverse bands. From 10 am – 2 pm the River City Six will perform Dixieland jazz under the big tent while the food court gets underway and the huge used book sale takes place. Then from 2 – 3 pm piped music will accompany the popular award winning water-ski show with the Water Board Warriors. Taking the stage on the new boardwalk along the expanded marina will be Stone Sober with country/pop. Hitting the big tent from 5 – 11 pm will be Replica, the great cover band featuring hometown boys Paul and Todd Lent.

The children’s games have been expanded with multiple carnival events, crafts and a dunk tank sponsored by the Gibraltar football team and junior class. They will join the children’s wooden boat-building tent sponsored by the Lions Club for which 250 tickets will go on sale for $3 starting at 8 am at the boat-building tent.

The Jack Bunda Memorial Wooden Boat Show will feature classic wooden boats on land and sea throughout the day.

At 12:30 pm anyone wishing to take part in the dinghy boat poker run should report to the water ski ramp for instructions. Horse and Wagon rides will feature sightseeing in the village.

The Great American Pancake Show and Breakfast goes from 8 – 10 am and continues all day with fresh whitefish sandwiches, brats, beer, and a wide variety of food and drink.

Always a pleasure at dusk is the lighted and decorated themed boats in the harbor competing for prizes. The grand fireworks display this year will feature two years worth of saved funds since they could not be held in past years due to inclement weather. The committee promises the most spectacular finale ever. (The rain date for fireworks is Sunday, Sept. 4.)
