Student Spotlight: A Finger-Knitting Team

Sunrise Elementary School fourth-graders Jaxon Laroche, Rylie Black and Shaelynn Laughlin have been working on a collaborative finger-knitting project since early March.

They’re trying to create the world’s longest finger-knitting project – which they’ve named Tangly and lovingly refer to as their “child.” They note how he “grows” every time they work on him, and Tangly is currently 389 feet long.

Though the three friends are moving on to fifth grade next fall, they won’t be leaving Tangly behind: They’ve already asked their art teacher, Megan Jain, to store him during the summer so they can work on him next year.

Laroche, Black and Laughlin also made a YouTube tutorial video to show others how to finger knit. Check it out at youtube.com/watch?v=vSuaRf2jz9A
