Artist Statement by Emily Purdy, Southern Door High School

My art is largely focused on folklore and technique exploration. I enjoy creating creatures and giving them an environment to exist in, all while trying out new painting styles, mediums and compositions.

After high school, I plan to attend the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design to pursue a degree in fine arts. I don’t have a specific career path in mind, but I’d love to dabble in character development for a studio, freelance work or art restoration.
