Stumpf Fiddle Contest Sure to Entertain

It’s time to break out your stumpf fiddle and start practicing! At 2:30 pm on Feb. 4 at the Main Tent in Clark Park, the annual Stumpf Fiddle Contest will take over Fish Creek’s 30th Annual Winter Festival. Participants in this free, hilarious event are not required to know how to play a stumpf fiddle, but they are required to have a good sense of humor.

Local instrumentalist, music teacher and Bacchus Lotus band member Charlie Eckhardt will emcee the contest, as he did in 2016. He has created two new “events” for the contest: A music/skill-based event (perfect for ex-drummers and band geeks) and a performance-based event (perfect for anyone with a pulse). Winners will determined by a decibel meter gaging audience’s applause and will be awarded with various prizes.

Immediately following the Stumpf Fiddle Contest, from 3 – 5 pm, will be an exciting performance by Door County local celebrities, Bacchus Lotus. Known for their outstanding musical talents, personalities and original mix of music, the band’s great versatility will steal the show.

“Bacchus Lotus shows are almost always crowded or sold out…they really know how to work a crowd,” said Fish Creek Civic Association Events Coordinator, Jackie Campbell. “If you liked what you saw in 2016, get ready for another fun, incredible performance in 2017.”
