Sturgeon Around the Bay Art Auction Is Back

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center (SBVC) is again beautifying the streets of Sturgeon Bay with fantastic street art. And based on last year’s very successful season and auction, the sturgeons are back!

Artists are welcome to take one of the sturgeons and create a masterpiece. The artist seed money is $250, which will be deducted from the artist proceeds after the auction. Artists may also create their own sturgeon, which must be of similar size to the offered forms. The artist seed money in this option is $500. $250 will be deducted from the artist proceeds after the auction.

The SBVC is adding the option for artists to create a piece of Functional Garden Art. The artist seed money in this option is $500. $250 will be deducted from the artist proceeds after the auction.

The SBVC is planning on selecting 15 to 20 artists to bring their vision to life with the official start of the street art display on Memorial Day Weekend. Once the summer season is over, the sturgeon will be auctioned as part of the annual Harvest Moon Festival and evening street festival on Sept. 22.

SBVC will require a sketch or model of the artists’ ideas to jury the design and approve for production.
