Sturgeon Bay Celebrates the Holiday Season

The holiday season will get underway in Sturgeon Bay Nov. 18 – 20. Christmas by the Bay will begin with the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Clock Tower on Third Avenue on Friday. Entertainer Randi Fay will perform from 6 – 8 pm; the tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7 pm. Shops will have special extended hours, sales, and treats. Free hay wagon rides will be offered to the public. Sturgeon Bay High School City Rhythms Choir will perform from 5 – 6 pm.

Nov. 19, the Santa Parade will begin at 10 am and feature a variety of floats, walkers, and of course, Santa! Line-up is at Sawyer Park. The procession will make its way across the Oregon Street Bridge, down Third Avenue to Jefferson Street and 6th Avenue. Families may take photos with Santa and his reindeer at the Door County Historical Museum. Children’s entertainer Randy Peterson will perform across from the museum immediately following the parade.

The Christmas by the Bay weekend will wrap up Sunday with a Breakfast Buffet with Santa at Stone Harbor Resort from 9:30 am – 12 pm, the Door County YMCA’s Annual Folk Art Fair from 9 am to 3 pm, and a Holiday Ornament Showcase and Family Activity Day at Door County Maritime Museum.

Upcoming holiday events include the Angel Ball, which will take place Dec. 3 at Stone Harbor and the Bed & Breakfast Christmas Walk on Dec. 4.

Santa will make another appearance Dec. 10 at the Door County Maritime Museum. He will arrive on the John Purves tug and visit with children from 10 am – 1 pm.
