Sturgeon Bay Cousins Release Children’s Book

Two cousins who live in Sturgeon Bay – author Amy Phimister and illustrator Christine Degeneffe – have created a new children’s picture book, A-B-C the Animals. They’ve talked about a collaborative project for decades and are glad to see it come to fruition.

Degeneffe’s drawings – of a Tibetan monastery, a jungle with a juggler, a winter woodland, pigs on a porch near a pasture, and more – are striking for their rich color, detail, and diversity of setting and scene, and they set the book apart from other alphabet books. 

Phimister’s text is engaging and accessible for young children, and her use of slant rhyme and internal rhyme are refreshing approaches in the children’s picture book genre.A-B-C the Animals is available at sandbeachpress.com and in Sturgeon Bay at Novel Bay Books and Madison Avenue Wine Shop.
