Sturgeon Bay Drunk Driving Arrests Up 24 Percent

The Door County Sheriff’s Office reports enforcement results from the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunken driving from Aug. 19 to Sept. 5. Door County deputies made seven drunken driving arrests during the crackdown, which included the Labor Day holiday weekend. Deputies also issued citations and made arrests during traffic stops for the following: 29 speeding violations; three operating after revocation or suspension violations; three traffic sign or traffic light violations; three drug arrests; three felony arrests; three warrant arrests. Sturgeon Bay Police issued six citations for OWI during the crackdown. Officers conducted 128 traffic stops, issuing 32 citations and 39 written warning. In addition to the OWI arrests, officers issued citations for the following: seven speeding violations; four operating after revocation or suspension violations; four traffic sign or traffic light violations; one child restraint violation (child less than 4 years old). Through Sept. 5, Sturgeon Bay Police have made 57 OWI arrests in 2016, compared to 46 OWI arrests through the same time in 2015.
