Sturgeon Bay Hosts Fine Art Fair

Sculpture by Herb Johnson

Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair will take place Memorial Day Weekend at Sunset Park, located at 747 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. The fair will be open May 26 from 10 am – 5 pm and May 27 from 10 am – 4 pm. This juried art show features original works of nearly 90 Wisconsin and Midwest artists in a wide variety of media including sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, fiber and photography; all artwork is for sale.

An exciting addition to the art fair will be a Sculpture Garden featuring large metal sculptures by Herb Johnson of Hartford, WI; elaborate stone encrusted bird dwellings by Sue Kox of Cedarburg,WI; and whimsical twists in aluminum by art fair regulars Kiaralinda and Todd of Safety Harbor, FL.

Children visiting the fair are invited to contribute to a fanciful sculpture using recycled water bottles or paint on the many giant 50-foot murals.

This year’s entertainment will include popular children’s entertainer Randy Peterson with shows at 11 am – 1:30 pm on Saturday and noon to 2 pm on Sunday. Randi Fay will play soft jazz from 2:30 – 4:30 pm on Saturday and local guitarist Steve Lavell will play 2 – 4 pm on Sunday. Strolling entertainers will include violinist Dan Ognavic, clown/magician TC Hatter and John Giovanni Contratto.

A variety of food items and beverages will be available all weekend. The very popular “artwork raffle” will again be part of the activities and will feature a large selection of items from art fair participants.
