Sturgeon Bay Man Killed in Crash

Bradley Jordan of Sturgeon Bay was killed Sunday, July 9, in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County E and Highway 57 just south of Baileys Harbor.

According to a press release issued by the Door County Sheriff’s Office, James Schorer, 83, of Baileys Harbor was traveling north on Highway 57 in a 2006 Dodge pickup truck and attempted to turn west onto County E when he struck Jordan, 23, who was driving southbound on a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Schorer and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured in the crash.

Jordan was transported by ambulance to Door County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.

This the fourth fatal crash in Door County this year. The first took place Jan. 28 when Nathan McKillen, 33, of Ellison Bay, died at the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 42 on the Ellison Bay hill in Liberty Grove after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving.

The second fatality occurred in a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Forestville on April 14 when the driver – 32-year-old Gildardo Valazquez, a Mexican national who was working in the area – died after rolling the sport utility vehicle he was driving.

On June 27, 54-year-old Eric Rutowski of Franklin, Wisconsin, died after being ejected from a moped he was driving on Highway 42 in Liberty Grove.
