Sturgeon Bay Moves to 8-man Football

Sturgeon Bay will move to 8-man football for the 2019 season, joining Gibraltar, Algoma, and Sevastopol among area teams who have made the switch.

“The move will showcase the talents of our athletes on a leveled playing field to match the number of players out for football this fall,” the school said in a press release.

The team has rescheduled games including a Homecoming matchup against Algoma on Sept. 27.

“We are excited to join eight-man football and provide an opportunity for our athletes to continue the strong tradition of playing tackle football at Sturgeon Bay,” said Athletic Director Todd Meikle.

The full 2019 Sturgeon Bay football schedule will be announced at a later date.
