Sturgeon Bay Road Construction Underway

Barricades and construction vehicles are starting to show up around the city as Sturgeon Bay’s 2023 roadway projects begin.

Rolling “soft” closures of the roadway will begin on Michigan Street from just west of 12th Avenue to 4th Avenue. A soft closure means that barricades will be staggered across the roadway to close it to general traffic. The barricades are staggered, however, to keep access open for residences, businesses and emergency services vehicles. All others should go around the block and stay out of the closed areas.

The contractors will soft-close sections only where there is active work, and they will move barricades back to the side of the road when work is completed for the day.

Concrete curbing and sidewalk sections will be removed and repoured on South 16th Place from 460 feet south of Michigan to Utah streets. The Michigan Street project also involves work on multiple side roads that intersect with Michigan Street.
