Sevastopol Advances to 8-man Football Championship
The Sevastopol Pioneers advanced to the eight-man football championship game with a 50-28 victory over Newman Catholic Friday, Oct. 26. The Pioneers will play Luck (11-0) in the championship game Saturday, Nov. 3, at Stanley-Boyd, near Chippewa Falls.
Sturgeon Bay Soccer Heads Back to State
Sturgeon Bay soccer is heading to state again. The Clippers topped fourth-ranked Howards Grove Saturday, Oct. 27, after knocking off top-ranked Kohler on Thursday. The Clippers play University School of Milwaukee Friday, Nov. 2, at Uihlein Field in Milwaukee at 4:30 pm.
Kewaunee Advances With Win Over Southern Door
Undefeated Kewaunee topped Southern Door, 31-28, in a WIAA state football playoff game Friday night at Kewaunee. Kewaunee plays again Friday, Nov. 2, at home against Stratford.
Stenzel, Henry Compete at State Cross Country Meet
Gibraltar’s Evan Henry set a new personal best time at the state cross country meet Saturday, Oct. 27, in Wisconsin Rapids. Henry crossed the finish line in 16:25, good for fifth. His finish is the best of any Gibraltar runner since Ryan Jacobson was state champion in 1999.
Olivia Stenzel of Sevastopol came in at 20:16, good for 20th.
Gibraltar Falls to Hilbert in Volleyball Sectionals
After claiming its first regional volleyball title since 2010, the Gibraltar Vikings’ run came to an end against Hilbert Thursday, Oct. 25. Gibraltar fell in three games.
