Sturgeon Bay Utilities Receives National Award

Sturgeon Bay Utilities (SBU), Sturgeon Bay’s locally owned, not-for-profit electric, water and wastewater services provider, was awarded the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Safety Award of Excellence April 30 at the APPA Engineering & Operations Technical Conference in Raleigh, N.C. The award recognizes utilities with the lowest number of work-related injuries and illnesses in 2017, based on worker-hours of exposure. SBU earned a first place designation. “It’s extremely important to be mindful of the risks of working with electricity,” said Jim Stawicki, general manager. “The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority.”
