Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center Seeks Ice Sculptors

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center is looking for carvers to sculpt blocks of ice at the upcoming Fire & Ice Festival Feb. 19.

Interested artists/sculptors would be expected to design and carve a piece of art by turning a block of ice into a potential award winning creation. Carving will begin at 8:30 am and judges will begin the review of the artwork at 2 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded in three classes – Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. There will also be a People’s Choice Award voted by the general public.

Again this year, professional carvers will be working on large snow blocks at Sawyer Park. There will also be several smaller snow blocks for young people or families to carve along with food and beverages provided by the Pioneer Fire Department and the Door County Maritime Museum.

The registration deadline is February 11. For more information call the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center at 920.743.6246 or email [email protected].
