Sturgeon Bay’s “Fire & Ice” Weekend Heats Up February

Sturgeon Bay hosts a “Fire & Ice” weekend of fun, February 15 – 17, 2008. The nights will be filled with musical entertainment, performances and a Saturday night dinner dance; the days will be filled with cool activities featuring a city-wide ice carving competition by local artists, free trolley rides, as well as museums and galleries hosting exhibits to entertain young and old.

Everything begins Friday evening, February 15, as local businesses host entertainment and restaurants have special dinner menus to kick off this weekend of activities to get people out of their winter hibernation.

Downtown Sturgeon Bay will be a bustle of activity on Saturday, February 16, as blocks of ice are turned into works of art. Starting at 9 am, participating businesses will sponsor ice carvers to transform their ice blocks throughout the day. Visitors and residents alike will enjoy watching the progress and voting for a “people’s choice” winner.

Then on Saturday night, the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and Stone Harbor Resort host the third annual “Fire & Ice” Dinner/Dance & Silent Auction. Enjoy a gourmet dinner followed by the award-winning Milwaukee Bucks house band, Streetlife, performing a unique blend of R&B, smooth jazz and contemporary favorites.

Sunday, February 17 is a day for art galleries, museums, boutique shopping and the “I’m a Boomer, Baby!” matinee performance at Third Avenue Playhouse. The Door County Maritime Museum will also be open with special exhibits.

Tickets to the dinner dance and additional information about Fire & Ice, and other special events, is available by calling the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center at 800.301.6695, 920.743.6246 or by visiting http://www.SturgeonBay.net.
