Sturgeon Bay’s Harvest Fest, Bench Auction Return Sept. 16

Sturgeon Bay’s Harvest Festival and Bench Art Auction returns Sept. 16 with festivities running 9 am – 5 pm on Third Avenue. The auction begins at 5:30 pm.

There are a couple new draws for this year’s event: Chalk the Bay! and a special appearance from the Milwaukee Bucks Statewide Tour Showcase.

The fun begins on Third Avenue at 9 am with a variety of art and craft vendors, fall store specials, live music and more.

Artists of all ages are invited to participate in the first Chalk the Bay! Chalk art will be created on the block of Third Avenue between Jefferson & Kentucky Streets, and on the sidewalks around the Door County Library-Sturgeon Bay (weather permitting). Watch amazing chalk artists Craig and Jamie Rogers create a special Harvest Festival chalk piece.

The Milwaukee Bucks 2017 Statewide Tour Showcase is scheduled to make a late afternoon stop in Sturgeon Bay. First round draft pick D.J. Wilson will sign autographs and take photos, the Rim Rockers team will perform amazing dunk tricks, and the Milwaukee Bucks dancers will entertain the crowd. Follow the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center (SBVC) on Facebook for details on performance times.

Hot Off the Grill will perform 11:30 am to 4:30 pm on Third Avenue in front of Third Avenue Playhouse and the Door County Advocate office.

The Old Bolts Car Club will host the 12th annual Harvest Festival Classic Car Show on Third Avenue from 8 am to 4 pm, with the awards ceremony at 3 pm. Proceeds from the show go to the Boys & Girls Club of Door County, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Adopt-a-Soldier. Be part of the fun and register at oldboltscarclub.org.

Dow Jones will shake up Martin Park (207 S. Third Ave) from 4 – 5:30 pm with covers of everybody’s favorite rock n’ roll songs.

Pre-registration for the 17th annual Sturgeon Bay Bench Art Auction begins at 4 pm at the SBVC Auction Registration table in Martin Park. This year’s auction features 17 unique two-seat straight-back benches and eight free-form creations. All of the benches up for auction will be on display in Martin Park beginning Sept. 11.
