Successful Year on the Track at Luxemburg Speedway

The newest race promoters of the Luxemburg Speedway at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds are pleased to share that attendance topped 15,000 during the 2016 season and more than 1,700 cars were on the track, over the course of 12 races.

The two race promoters, former Wisconsin Badgers defensive tackle Eric Mahlik and Ron Cochrane, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, recently shared the final numbers with the Kewaunee County Promotion and Recreation Department.

“The 2016 season was a big success in the fact that we saw a return of cars to the track and more importantly, the large return in fans,” according to Mahlik, race promoter. Mahlik also believes that he and Cochrane had some of the best racing that the track has ever seen, “There was a lot of three and four car-wide racing, along with a number of photo finishes,” said Mahlik.”

The Luxemburg Speedway promoters are looking forward to kicking off the next racing season in a big way, with one of the first events to be the Lucas Oil Late Model show on May 19, 2017. This event is expected to bring in some of the best dirt track drivers from around the country. The official start date for the next season is expected to be released in January.
