Summer Open House

Sturgeon Bay’s Greco Gallery “An Artistic Boutique” invites the public to an Artists Reception and Summer Open House on June 12 from 5 – 8 pm. Meet the artists who belong to this noncommissioned, collective gallery, view their latest work, and enjoy complimentary refreshments along with music in the courtyard by Elliot Goettelman and Deathfolk (Jessica Holland and Nick Hoover). The event will also be welcoming a number of new member artists along with a few guest artists. The new member artists are Dawn Patel (Brilliant Stranger/Refab), Katie Starr (re-acquainted) and Jennifer Aldrich.

Starr joins the gallery showing “re-acquainted,” her collection of art pieces created by combining and re-designing vintage objects.

Aldrich is a painter in all mediums. Her latest artwork has evolved into a comfortable place with abstracts or, as she likes to call it, improvisational art.

Patel is the mastermind behind Brilliant Stranger. Her art is always changing, very much like the life of its creator. She’s brought Refab, her line of hand painted and silkscreened clothing, to the gallery, as well as hand painted objects like wishing stones and meditation pillows. This winter the owner of Greco Gallery, Kelly Avenson, along with the help of many friends, expanded the gallery to include one more space, opening up the gallery to host a few guest artists throughout the season. This season the gallery will be sharing the work of photographer Dan Eggert, photographer Kasey Hock, potter Beth Eatton, and Tawnie Perkovech of GypsyStomp.

Along with the new artists, guest artists and new works by the 11 veteran member artists, Greco Gallery is also displaying and auctioning off skateboards painted by local artist Perkovech and 12 high school students. The skateboards will be up on display and taking bids until June 21; the money raised by these artful skateboards will go towards amenities in the skatepark.
