Sustainability Fair to be Held at Crossroads

The first Door County Sustainability Fair will be held on Sunday, April 20, from noon to 5 pm at the Crossroads at Big Creek, Sturgeon Bay. The fair is intended to inspire county residents to envision a more sustainable future for Door County by promoting ideas for a sustainable society. This event will be free and open to the public.

The fair will include various presentations on topics related to sustainability and feature over 20 local businesses and non-profit organizations that will display information about creating conditions for social, economic, and environmental sustainability. There will also be local food vendors, door prizes, music, kite-making for kids, a guided nature walk of the Crossroads, and other activities for all ages at the fair. Interested groups and businesses that support sustainability initiatives are invited to contribute staffed exhibits or to provide information for distribution at the fair. Exhibitors should contact Cat Schmidt of Sustain Door at 920.743.4180.

The fair is organized by Sustain Door, a group of citizens trained in the Natural Step concept of achieving personal, community, and global sustainability by eliminating dependence on fossil fuels, reducing human-made waste, curtailing encroachment upon nature, and meeting human needs fairly and efficiently.
