Sweetie Pies hosts Vintage Apron Show

Sweetie Pies of Fish Creek is hosting a vintage apron style show on the grounds of the Settlement Shops on August 13. The young and talented Birch Creek Ambassadors will set the mood with music beginning at 12:30 pm. The style show will begin shortly after 1 pm and feature utilitarian as well as decorative aprons from the 1920s through the 1960s, with an emphasis on creativity, ingenuity, and a sense of humor.

As part of the festivities, Susan Croissant, originator of Sweetie Pies and vintage apron collector herself, will be honored. Sweetie Pies is celebrating its 15th season this year and cherry pie was recently noted in the current edition of National Geographic Traveler as one of “America’s Top Five Pies.”

New this year are several varieties of quiche made with local ingredients and sold by the slice from 11 am – 2 pm during the Settlement Shops’ Wednesday Farmers’ Markets and at special events such as the July 31 Art Fair and the August 13 style show.

The Settlement Shops are located just south of Fish Creek on Highway 42. The event is free and open to the public.
