Synergies

“Turned-Vessel: Mushroom” by Kelly Bresnahan.

On Sept. 7, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Woodwalk Gallery will feature demonstrations by its studio artists and artwork produced by both students and faculty from its handmade paper, basket making and print making summer workshops. Also featured will be a wood-turning demo at 2 pm by Kelly Bresnahan, a Woodwalk artist and NWTC – Green Bay faculty member/studio head-technician. The public is invited for light hors d’oeuvres, beverages and a chance to explore these media.

Kirsten Christianson, Sally Everhardus and Donna Brown each brought their unique use of natural materials to workshops all summer long. Their creative spirits are evident in the works of their students, which become a testimony to the synergies possible by sharing side-by-side studio spaces. One student in particular, Dale Vanden Houten, pushed those boundaries by making the paper he then printed on and sculpted. His work is currently on display at the Gallery at Door Peninsula Winery in Carlsville, which is coordinated by Woodwalk.

Vanden Houten says, “You never know where the creative process will take you when you start with a fundamental interest in and respect for the environment in which you work. At Woodwalk everything is potentially available to be drawn on as part of your palette guided by the multi-talented faculty.”

Woodwalk Gallery is located at 6746 County Road G, Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.868.2912.
