T. Ashwell’s Announces New Years Eve Menu and Entertainment

T.Ashwell’s in Ellison Bay is pleased to present its 2009 New Years Eve Menu and entertainment schedule.

The decadent menu includes five courses and represents a just a small taste of the culinary stylings of Thomas Ashwell Smith.

“I really enjoy New Years – it gives me a chance to play with an assortment of great food combinations,” says Smith.

The menu begins with a prelude trio of seared diver scallops with coconut milk lemongrass sauce, country duck pâté with cherry-peppercorn chutney, and pear and gorgonzola ravioli with mint pesto cream. The prelude is followed by a second course of soup (seafood bisque with a parmesan crisp) and a salad course, which features a fresh berry and white wine aspic (savory jelly) with baby greens and bacon-wrapped dates.

Guests will have four entrees to choose from for their fourth course – proscuitto wrapped halibut, duet of duck ala blueberry, a nine oz. bone-in Angus filet with a peppercorn, brandy, and veal demi cream sauce, and a vegetarian tasting featuring a spinach, feta & herb phyllo pie, a southwest “lasagna” made with vegetables and tortillas, and a sweet and spicy stir fry. Entrees may be subject to change slightly.

The evening will end with special New Years Eve dessert that is yet to be determined.

The five-course menu includes a glass of sparkling wine and is available for $75/person. Tax, additional beverages, and gratuity are not included.

Entertainment for the evening will begin at 6 pm with Washington Island’s Dan Hansen on the piano, with the bluegrass sounds of Eric Lewis and Chris Irwin to begin at 9:30 pm and last until well after midnight.

T.Ashwell’s will take reservations on New Year’s Eve from 6 – 11 pm. A table of two or four should plan on two to two and a half hours for dinner; a table over four should plan for three hours of dining time. Reservations for New Years Eve are highly recommended and tables do fill up quickly.

T.Ashwell’s is located at 11976 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay, and is open during the holidays from Saturday, December 26 through Saturday, January 2, 2010.
