Taco Bell Building Sold

The old Taco Bell building on Egg Harbor Road in Sturgeon Bay was sold to Rob Esposito this week.

Esposito is the owner of Culvers in Sturgeon Bay as well as three more Culvers franchises in the Chicagoland area.

“It won’t be a Culvers,” Esposito joked.

The building is zoned commercially and, although Esposito plans to open a restaurant at the location, he has no specific ideas on what it will be.

“Eventually we might look for some community input to see what people might like to see,” said Esposito. One idea included starting Facebook page for people to post their thoughts on what kind of restaurant Sturgeon Bay might need.

“We’ve had a couple of ideas about what would be good in town,” said Esposito, but there is still a long way to go before he begins putting something in the building.

The mile-long stretch of Egg Harbor Road has seen many chain restaurants come and go over the years. The building that is now home to Subway was originally a Taco John’s franchise. Next door to the Draft Haus building was once a Ponderosa, and in 2010, a Hardees franchise closed after occupying the corner of Egg Harbor Road and Georgia Street for years.
