Tag Monarchs at Crossroads

Hike the 1.4-mile Field Trail at Crossroads at Big Creek on Sept. 2, 4 pm, during a time when the area is at its most colorful. The hike offers a floral kaleidoscope and expansive views with some gentle hills.

Set your alarm early to join the naturalist for a bird hike Sept. 3, 7:30 am. Meet at the kayak landing at The Cove Preserve, 817 S. 20th Place, just off Utah Street, in Sturgeon Bay. Binoculars are helpful, and wear shoes that can get wet.

Naturalist Karen Newbern will teach participants about monarch butterflies Sept. 4, 1 pm. Then they will capture monarchs with nets and tag them. Free aster plants will also be available (one per family while supplies last).

All of these programs are free at Crossroads at Big Creek (crossroadsatbigcreek.org), 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
